Hon’ble the Acting Chief Justice
Hon’ble Shri Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari
His Lordship was born on 19th September, 1965 at Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand in the family of lawyers. His Lordship’s father, Shri N.B. Tiwari is a designated Senior Advocate and Maternal grandfather Shri Ram Datt Chilkoti was a leading lawyer in District Pithoragarh. His Lordship studied at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pithoragarh upto 10th standard. Did his Graduation & Post Graduation from Government Post Graduate College, Pithoragarh. Passed LL.B. from Delhi University in the year 1990. His Lordship Enrolled with Bar Council of U.P. Allahabad in the year 1990 and started practice at Hon’ble High Court of Judicature at Allahabad. Upon creation of Hon’ble High Court of Uttarakhand in the year 2000, his lordship shifted to Nainital and practiced before Hon’ble High Court of Uttarakhand. On 20.05.2009, his lordship was designated as Senior Advocate. Held the office of President, High Court Bar Association, Nainital in the year 2008. His Lordship appeared as special counsel on behalf of the State Government in various cases. His Lordship was elevated as permanent Judge, High Court of Uttarakhand on 19.05.2017. His Lordship was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice from 27.10.2023 to 03.02.2024. His Lordship appointed as the Acting Chief Justice w.e.f. 09.10.2024. His Lordship was again appointed as the Acting Chief Justice w.e.f. 11.10.2024.
